girls’ closet makeover

i’ve been procrastinating this for a year now, but it is time! the girls are getting bigger and accumulating more stuff, so we need a place to organize it all. when we first moved in, their closet had a basic rod for hanging things and some very homemade shelves. but they were pretty beat up so i took them all out when we renovated their room last year.

i started by adding bead board panels all around the inside of the closet. i did this in my son’s closet as well and i love the look, but also didn’t want to redo the drywall in the closet. so win, win. after the bead board was installed, i caulked and wood filled all the gap and nail holes. then i painted two coats on the entire closet, including the ceiling, the same color. then once it was dry, we were ready to add the closet organizer. I ended up using two units because they have a pretty good sized closet. i built them according to the instructions and then screwed them into the studs with the wall attachments they provide. then i measured and cut baseboards and filled them in around the units. then after a little more caulking and wood filling, i touched up any paint and then filled the closet with all their stuff!

honestly a really easy way to add extra storage and the units were super affordable. one day we may make these more custom based on their needs, but for now, they are just what we needed!
